The Thermolab experiment uses the Damec-developed Portable Pulmonary Function System (Portable PFS) to investigate thermo-regulatory and cardiovascular adaptations during rest and exercise in the course of long-term exposure to weightlessness.
The Portable PFS basically uses data from breathing gases as indirect and/or direct measure for the sought values. The Maximum Volume Oxygen (VO2 Max) experiment is aimed at measuring oxygen uptake and cardiac output in particular, during various degrees of exercise.
